I'm Reyna Gobel, and I have student loans. When I wrote the first edition of Graduation Debt 14 years ago, it was a novel idea to live your life now instead of waiting until your student loan debt was paid off. Many publishers turned me down because I didn't have an instant payoff strategy. My readers and individuals who attend my university, nonprofit, and corporate workshops know their student loan payment options, save on restaurant spending, and negotiate everything from rent to car insurance down. They travel and live full lives.
My readers, workshop attendees, and I are smart financially, even when we don't feel like it. The book was well reviewed in both The New York Times and The Washington Post.
6 years later, we encountered a new feeling of being powerless thanks to COVID-19. I volunteered over 300 days during COVID organizing food giveaways and immune system workshops. I was deeply saddened to see CDC stats that over 90 percent of COVID-19 deaths involved comorbidities.
In December of 2021, I decided to go back to school for a Master's of Public Health and create nutrition programs. I grabbed my friends to help me build out a course that covered the basics of personalized nutrition and fitness. I created the nutrition part of the 30-day precision nutrition challenge. Lynnette Khalfani-Cox and Earl Cox, co-founders of The Money Coach, shared videos of how they lost a combined 180 pounds. And Fred DeVito and Elisabeth (Lis) Halfpapp, the first male and female barre teaches in the U.S., contributed mini workouts for major muscle groups.
These are the people I count on when I have questions about fitness, money, or life in general. And the information we'll share helps you ask the right questions of your doctors. After all, did you know doctors only get 2 hours of nutrition training in med school? And you're a lifetime expert on your own body.
